The fat of the land: from field to table.
The »Kirchenbauer« was once a farm; now it is a guesthouse. Much of the produce that is offered at the beautiful old breakfast tables comes from local producers. Zum »Kirchenbauer« is now supplied with milk, cheese, yoghurt, bread, rolls, honey and other delicious food by farmers, bakers, cheesemakers and beekeepers from Oberammergau and the Ammertal region. This closes the circle, since in the past the »Kirchenbauer« was a farmer, now he’s an innkeeper. But never mind the history lesson, just try our authentic breakfast from the Ammergauer Alps.
Right next to the historic breakfast room is the kitchen where Andreas Ruppenthal prepares pre-ordered meals and dishes for special occasions. For a wine tasting, for example. And afterwards you can also dine excellently in the ancient, wooden-panelled dining room. The breakfast room can be converted into a wine bar where only German wines are served. The hand-written wine menu displays a carefully chosen selection. The wines and wine-makers are hand picked. And the best thing is: the wine bar is open to everyone. Whether they are staying with us or not.
